Where one opportunity can lead.

A staff story explores how volunteering helped Alice King find her direction in education.

While studying journalism, Alice King took a volunteering opportunity at Chelmsford College, helping in libraries and study centres. That experience encouraged her to pursue a career in education.

After teacher training and teaching English, she returned to the college in 2017 as a Learning Coach. Her subsequent roles included personal development and enrichment work.

Learning beyond the classroom

The college’s story describes her involvement with the Renew Sustainable Fashion Shop and ChangeMakers, giving students opportunities to contribute to their community.
