Your learning, in focus
Are you someone who wants to leave a lasting legacy and make a practical difference in people's lives? Do you have an eye for detail, a passion for learning, and an interest in the field of construction? If so, we recommend considering our carpentry and joinery course.
In this carpentry and joinery course, you will gain a solid foundation in the basics of carpentry, including the handling of materials, tools, and equipment. This is a 1-year introduction to the construction industry, featuring essential core units such as, health and safety, construction industry and construction principles and then specialist carpentry units to give you the skills to complete the job.
If you have successfully gained GCSE 9-4 in English and maths, you can combine study of Level 1 carpentry and joinery with attending the Football Academy.
Please note that this course is an introduction only, and progression is essential to gain semi-skilled and skilled status.
This Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery is designed to help you gain a comprehensive understanding of carpentry and joinery by covering a range of topics and units. These units will equip you with the necessary skills that employers look for when hiring individuals in this industry. The units studied are:
Level 1 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery
All Level 1 learners will also complete a Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment to allow you to access a CSCS card which you will need to be able to work on site.
We collaborate with stakeholders, including CITB and Quantum, to enhance our construction programmes based on their feedback. (This has led to the addition of the CSCS/H&S certificate, E3 Energy Efficiency and Sustainability Award, and Understanding Domestic Retrofit Award to align with industry needs).
You will study Life Skills and continue to study a maths and English qualification if you have not achieved a Grade 4 or Functional Skills Level 2.
